TAFE & Adult Provision Compensation for TAFE teacher bullied by student

Redlich’s recently obtained a substantial pain and suffering payout for a TAFE teacher bullied by a student. The teacher raised multiple concerns with her employer about a student making unfounded and inappropriate complaints against her. The employer dissuaded her from lodging a formal grievance but later referred the students’ complaints to an external investigator.

The teacher successfully defended the allegations at great cost to her health. The stress of the unfounded allegations and lack of support aggravated a chronic condition suffered by the client to such an extent that she required surgery and a colostomy.

Redlich’s obtained a significant lump sum impairment benefit for the teacher and settlement of her common law damages, arguing the employer breached its duty of care.
