Early Childhood Fair Work increases award wages

  • 15 Sep 2022

On 15 June, the Fair Work Commission (FWC) handed down their decision in the annual wage review, granting a 4.6% wage increase for employees employed under an award.

Teachers employed under the Educational Services Teachers Award should have received a 4.6% wage increase as of 1 July 2022. Educators employed under the Children’s Services Award should have received a 4.6% wage increase as of 1 July 2022.

For educator members employed under the VECTEA and EEEA, this FWC decision may also impact on when you receive your next wage increase. Educators classified at Level 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 will have received a pay increase as of 1 July this year to stay in line with the minimum award wage increase, and you will then receive another pay increase on 1 October 2022, as per the next VECTEA and EEEA pay increase.

Other wage changes for members to note:

  • Educators who have been working at Level 2.2 for 12 months or more should have incremented to Level 2.3 as of 1 July 2022.
  • Allowances should have been updated to align with the FWC annual wage review (as per VECTEA clause 27.1, adjustment of expenses-related allowances) with meal allowance (clause 27.5) updated from 1 July 2022 to $13.13 from $12.63 and vehicle allowance (clause 27.2) updated as of 1 July 2022 to 92c per kilometre from 80c per kilometre.
