Schools Join the ES work dimensions working party

The VGSA2017 contained a commitment to establish an education support work dimensions working party to inform the negotiations for the subsequent agreement.

This working party has been analysing ES positions as advertised on Recruitment Online. The publication of those vacancies is based on templates provided by DET and we have been comparing these advertisements against the current dimensions of work as outlined in the agreement.

The AEU has been developing a plan for this semester to ensure we are engaging with as many ES members as possible in this work. Each regional meeting in Term 3 and 4 will include discussion around ES work dimensions. We encourage all ES members to attend these meetings to share their experiences with the current dimensions and provide feedback on any suggested changes.

Our ES councillors will be instrumental in liaising with ES members in their regions to ensure our members know how they can be involved in the development of this work.

This is an important time for each AEU member to discuss with ES non-members the work that we are doing to ensure the work dimensions recognise the critical work they do in our schools every day – and ask them to join.

The more ES members we have, the stronger our negotiating position will be when it comes to bargaining around the next agreement.
