For everyone Legal news: Union win for HSR rights

The industrial team has achieved a big win for all Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) after one HSR sought information held by a school in respect to an incident of student violence against a teacher.

The school refused to provide information, and the HSR unsuccessfully sought an internal review with WorkSafe. The AEU’s industrial workgroup sought review of this decision in VCAT, which decided in favour of the HSR. This decision clarifies the rights of all HSRs in Victoria to obtain relevant information.
