Early Childhood Three-year-old kindergarten continues to expand

An additional 2000 Victorian three-year-olds are now accessing two years of funded kindergarten, as the 15 hours of kinder program rolls out across more local government areas. Across the 15 new LGAs, 135 early childhood education settings are now delivering funded kinder programs for three-year-olds, with the majority of these services offering the full 15 hours.

Teachers and educators in these areas will have received a resource kit earlier this term containing resources, professional learning and web content.

The web content includes evidence-informed practice and pedagogical support, reflective questions, and resource links. While the website has been designed to support the delivery of three-year-old kindergarten in Victoria, it is also relevant to educators working in other early childhood education and care settings.

Two staff members from each service in these areas will be able to attend two days of professional development, with backfill being provided. The toolkit and professional learning will be provided for next year’s cohort in due course.
